TRIA VARDILL
Thank you for visiting my Web Site.
I like to think my work is an expression of my life,
both past and present, influenced by external and
internal factors.
I am striving for images that are intriguing and
charged with energy.
Final steps are made by you, the viewer.
As a child I always had a pencil in my hand. I loved drawing.
Equally I loved to dance. My mother was a talented performer and dancer, so movement was part of my life even before I was born. Both my parents encouraged me in my pursuits.
At the point when I had to make a decision to make my way in life, art won over and I completed a foundation course, at what was then known as Manchester Polytechnic.
It was demanding. I now realise that my time there influenced my take on visual perception indefinitely. I was offered a place at Central School of Art and Design to continue my studies
specialising in fine art, but decided to change course.
I opted for a dance career. After full time training I worked as a professional dancer and choreographer.
Each practice informs the other.
The process of image-making using varied materials continues to take me on my journey.
I am fortunate to have met Suzanne Astley, who is a mindful movement practitioner with a prestigious career to date in dance, yoga and somatics.
Suzanne cares about the ability of individuals to find their connection to their whole self.
Breathing, feeling. seeing, listening, and moving,
is a philosophy I love.
